Getting Ready for Y2Baby

Recently, bunker mentality has overtaken me and so I spent this labor day stocking the pantry as if tomorrow I would wake up to find the streets overflowing with zombies (though I left screwdrivers--the zombie killers best friend--off the shopping list).

But what was on the shopping list included the ingredients to make a couple gallons of a super soup (ironically called "Super Soup"), spinach lasagna, and enough Diet Coke to sink a battleship. And next weekend we make more freezer-ready dishes. Basically, I'm assuming that once baby gets here, Kerri and I will become shut-in's, incapable of doing more than staggering to the freezer and popping pre-portioned containers of soup or lasagna into the microwave.

Now, of course, this is a bit over-the-top. But, my reasoning is, there are a myriad of things that I think I'm probably prepared for but am really not (you have to change baby's diaper what, twice a day?) and another myriad of things I no doubt haven't anticipated at all. So, those things that I can anticipate (e.g. our need to eat) we might as well take care of now. Hence, by the time baby gets here, I plan on having provisioned enough grub so that Kerri, I, and the baby can easily survive alone for at least a year (or however long it takes a scrappy band of misfits to overthrow the zombie hoards and rescue us.)

Good thinking -- I wish we'd done the same. You're going to be sorry you didn't pick up that screwdriver when you start trying to put together all the assorted baby contraptions! And did you stock up on batteries? You might as well take out stock in Duracell.

Screwdrivers are definitely good for Zombie killing-or so I'm told. Chainsaws are better, quicker, but noisier. They attract all of the other zombies.
