Reader Rabbit

These pictures are from the beginning of August, but I'm too lazy to upload the new pictures from our camera, and Aunt Kimmy has demanded new photos.

Lib's so serious here, isn't she? It's like she's got some big work to do, and Mom is really putting a crimp in her style with all of this photo nonsense. In reality, she was none too pleased to be put into the Exersaucer. In fact, this might the last time I was successful in forcing her into the Mommy-beloved thing. Sigh.

Libby has been quite the little reader for the last couple of months. She loves to turn the pages as well as to look at the pictures on her own.

Current favorites are Pat the Bunny (thanks, Rachel); Ten, Nine, Eight and Dinosaur's Binket (thanks, Julie Kay); That's Not My Bear and Is Your Mama a Llama (thanks, Maryann) as well as many more. Alas, Pat the Bunny has been nearly destroyed since these pictures were taken. RIP, PTB.

Feeding Frenzy

We met a few friends for a playdate last week. The moms were busy gabbing and watching the kids play when suddenly we got a wee hint that they might be hungry. It began with Eliza's snack trap of Cheerios spilling and ended up looking like this:

It was like watching piranhas in action. The crowning moment was when Eliza stood above the fray and sprinkled Cheerios like a queen doling out goodies. It was the funniest thing I've seen in ages (even funnier than Libby kissing Mae the dog's butt earlier that playdate). Thanks to Susan for getting the pix!

Check out the look on Libby's face here. "Yeah, we're eating off the floor. What do you expect when you don't ever feed us?"

My wife's making me post this

Good lord, I don't post something for a couple months and the next thing you know I'm being accused of not loving my child. Or being dead. Jeesh. Just 'cause we've got a kid doesn't mean I got all the time in the world. I gotta life to lead cha cha.

That said, our daughter is becoming more and more adorable. Only two weeks (plus a little) until her first birthday. She's getting an ipod and a party at the Viper room with p-diddy.

End-of-the-Summer Blur

These last couple of weeks have been a blur of activity. I can't believe Libby's birthday is just a few weeks away. 11 months old. Who would have thought in those teary (mine) and screamy (hers) first few months that I would let her live this long?

Here's some info about our 11-month-old girl:
  • talking: She blabbers and jabbers and chatters and coos fairly constantly. She can say Daddy (usually Da-da, though), bye-bye, and kitty clearly enough to be understood by others. She can say ball clearly enough to be understood by Martin and I alone.
  • walking: She now is the proud owner of her first pair of real shoes. We need to get more video tape, so we can record her walking in them. She walks as if she's wearing swim flippers. See pictures of a shod Libby below!
Trying on shoes at the shoe store.

Our new lavender shoes!

Finally understanding the appeal of corn on the cob--a new favorite!

Great big faker. Attica! Attica!

Grandma and Grandpa K came to visit. Look closely and notice Bruiser's Band-aid on her eyebrow. Our little rough-and-tumble gal.
